February, 2014

The Connecticut Appellate Court decided R.S. Silver Enterprises, Inc. v. Pasquerella, 148 Conn. App. 359 (2014). Attorneys Horton and Bartschi represented the defendant. A subsequent petition for certification to the Connecticut Supreme Court was dismissed at 311 Conn. 938 (2014).


The Connecticut Appellate Court decided Talbot v. Talbot, 148 Conn. App. 279 (2014). Attorneys Hrelic and Bartschi represented the plaintiff. A subsequent petition for certification to the Connecticut Supreme Court was denied at 311 Conn. 954 (2014).


Attorney Dana Hrelic was recognized for her extraordinary work in the second quarter of the bar year by the ABA for her work on the YLD Resolutions Team and Credentials Board.


January, 2014

Attorneys Horton and Levesque began teaching their class, Appellate Advocacy, at the University of Connecticut School of Law for the Spring semester.


In January 2014, MCLE New England published Barry F. Armata & Campbell D. Barrett, MCLE NEW ENGLAND, A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO DIVORCE IN CONNECTICUT (2013), in which Attorney Kenneth Bartschi wrote Chapter 16, concerning appellate procedure and post-trial motions.


December, 2013

Attorney Karen Dowd argued on behalf of the Attorney for the Minor Children in Greenan v. Greenan, A.C. 34320, before the Connecticut Appellate Court on December 9, 2013.


The Connecticut Appellate Court decided Brye v. State., 147 Conn. App. 173 (2013). Attorney Levesque represented the plaintiff in that appeal.


November, 2013

Attorney Karen Dowd argued Cunniffe v. Cunniffe, A.C. 34940, before the Connecticut Appellate Court on November 15, 2013.


Attorney Dana Hrelic argued Talbot v. Talbot, A.C. 35032, before the Connecticut Appellate Court on November 19, 2013.


The Connecticut Supreme Court decided In re Elvin G., 310 Conn. 485 (2013). Attorney Hrelic represented the appellant in that appeal.


The Connecticut Appellate Court decided In re Averiella P., 146 Conn. App. 800 (2013). Attorney Hrelic represented the appellant in that appeal.

Attorney Kimberly Knox was selected as one of the Top 25: 2013 Women Connecticut Super Lawyers.


The Connecticut Appellate Court decided Western Dermatology Consultants, P.C. v. VitalWorks, Inc., 146 Conn. App. 169 (2013). Attorneys Knox and Hrelic represented the defendant in that appeal.

Attorney Brendon Levesque argued Brye v. State of Connecticut, A.C. 34408, before the Connecticut Appellate Court on October 23, 2013.


Attorney Dana Hrelic argued In re Averiello, A.C. 35810, before the Connecticut Appellate Court on October 15, 2013.


Attorney Brendon Levesque spoke on Risk Management/Professional Responsibility to a local law firm.


Attorney Hrelic spoke at the New England Bar Association Annual Meeting on a panel on the future of legal education.


Attorney Hrelic also spoke at the ABA Law Student Division Fall Summit in New York City on a panel on the future of legal education.


September, 2013

The Connecticut Appellate Court decided Hopkins v. Balachandron, 146 Conn. App. 44 (2013). Attorneys Hrelic and Levesque represented the appellant in that appeal.


Attorney Dana Hrelic was a visiting lecturer for Appellate Practice, Justice Schaller’s class at Yale Law School. She spoke about Considerations in Deciding to Initiate and Prosecute an Appeal.


August, 2013

The Connecticut Supreme Court decided Incardona v. Roer, 309 Conn. 754 (2013). Attorneys Dowd and Levesque represented the appellant in that appeal.

The Connecticut Supreme Court decided Dowling v. Szymczak, 309 Conn. 390 (2013). Attorneys Shields and Horton represented the defendant in that appeal.


The Connecticut Appellate Court decided Holth v. Chelsea Groton Bank, 143 Conn. App. 732 (2013). Attorneys Hrelic and Levesque represented the appellant in that appeal.

June, 2013

Attorney Kim Knox was installed as the President of the Connecticut Bar Association at the Annual Meeting Dinner. Attorney Knox will serve as President from June 2013 through June 2014.


On June 26, 2013, the United States Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act. Attorneys Bartschi and Dowd are co-counsel in a challenge to DOMA which was brought in Connecticuts District Court. The District Court, Bryant J., in a thorough and well-reasoned decision held DOMA was unconstitutional. Pedersen v. Office of Personnel Management, 881 F. Supp. 2d 294 (2012). Pedersen was one of several cases on DOMA before the United States Supreme Court when they granted certification in the Windsor case.


Attorneys Kenneth Bartschi and Karen Dowd presented the Annual Review of Appellate Cases with Kenneth Bartschi and Karen Dowd again this year at the Connecticut Bar Association Annual Meeting.
